Hello earthlings! I am Mohammed Shirajum Monir from Dhaka, Bangladesh. I enjoyed around 9 (nine) years of my professional career in working with IDB-BISEW IT Scholarship Programme. Till now, many earthlings are making calls or sending emails and SMS for information about IDB-BISEW IT Scholarship. That’s why, I have decided to write and share some updated information about IDB-BISEW IT Scholarship Project. First time I wrote another article regarding this on Saturday, September 8, 2012. In this article I am going to share some commonly asked questions.

1. What is IDB-BISEW? IDB-BISEW, Islamic Development Bank-Bangladesh Islamic Solidarity Educational Wakf, was established following an agreement between the Islamic Development Bank, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and the Government of Bangladesh. IDB-BISEW undertakes funding and implementing of projects in the areas of education, human resource development and institutional strengthening.

2. What is IDB-BISEW IT Scholarship Project? It is a technology skills development project under which the scholarship holders are provided with training of various IT disciplines leading to a certificate or professional diploma. Around 3,806 graduates of the scholarship programme are employed as IT professionals in various organizations at home and abroad. The student intake would take place between 3 to 4 times in a project year. Candidates may apply in multiple intakes if unsuccessful in earlier attempts.

3. What benefit would a candidate get from this project? The selected candidates will get an opportunity to undergo training by participating in a Certificate or a Diploma level course at one of the premiere training institute in Dhaka & Chittagong. In financial terms these trainings are worth approximately Tk. 1, 45,000 each trainee. Moreover, trainees will also receive Tk. 2,000 per month as stipend. The scholarship does not cover the cost to be incurred by the candidate for food and accommodation during the training.

4. For whom the scholarships are applicable? Long Courses: Type-A (12 to 14 months or shorter): A person who has already passed Bachelor’s (Pass Course/Honours)/Fazil examination can apply for the Type-A Long Course scholarships. Long Courses: Type-B (10 to 12 months or shorter): Individuals holding Diploma in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction and Survey can apply for Type-B course. Fast Track Courses (4 months or shorter): Pre-requisites for Fast Track Courses are provided later below.

6. Steps involved in the candidate selection process: a. Apply online by visiting apply.idb-bisew.info b. Enter the required information in the form and click on the Submit button c. Print out two copies of the Admit Card shown on the screen and bring both copies to the exam centre for the Aptitude Test d. If all required information are entered correctly and are eligible for the scholarship then a shortlist to appear in the Aptitude Test will be published. e. Candidates who pass the test are called for an interview at IDB-BISEW f. You shall be selected for the scholarship if you pass the interview

7.  The training locations: Dhaka & Chittagong. Fast Track courses will only be conducted in Dhaka.

8. Class timing: Either in the morning slot (9.00 am to 1.00 pm) or in the afternoon slot (3.00 pm to 7.00 pm)

9. What about the Aptitude Test? Candidates for Long Courses and for the Fast Track course Digital Audio-Video Editing With Motion Graphics shall have to undergo the Aptitude Test. In order to assess the basic educational ability of the candidate, the Project Authority would conduct this Aptitude Test in Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) format. The Aptitude Test shall comprise of two sections – Quantitative (in Bangla) section and English section. Candidates of Fast Track Courses shall have to undergo subject-specific test. They will not have to appear in the Aptitude Test mentioned above. However, candidates for the Fast Track course Digital Audio-Video Editing With Motion Graphics will have to undergo both the Aptitude Test and subject-specific test. There will not be any pass or fail marks for the test. Instead, a percentile ranking system has been adopted to select successful candidates.

10. Career placement assistance: The project has a cell for the placement of IDB-BISEW graduates in gainful jobs. The cell maintains close relationship with the employers and continuously works for arranging interview for the graduates. The project enjoys a 92% placement rate. The Placement Cell maintains a dedicated web based job site named careerHub. Only the graduates of IDB-BISEW can post their CVs on this site. Employers choose CVs from this site and select candidates for employment.
